Sarasota west-glass cassette
Sarasota, FL · Residential

Challenge
West-facing sliding glass overheated the living room by mid-afternoon. The owner wanted shade without a permanent roof. The first sketch hung a 24 ft cassette from decorative fascia — no structure, no Florida retract plan.
Solution
House photo in /configure/awning. We refused fascia-only, specified masonry anchors, 13 ft projection, Sunbrella acrylic, Somfy io and a wind sensor. Florida Product Approval notes went in before deposit. Named-storm rule: retract, do not ride it out.
Budget
Configured hardware $6,400–$7,200 (13 ft projection, Somfy io, wind sensor, hood). Install by certified partner quoted separately after the masonry ledger was confirmed.

Energy savings
Exterior interception on west glass. Owner raised the afternoon cooling setpoint ~2°F without comfort loss. Physics is in /learn/energy-savings; run the live SHGC estimate at /tools/solar-heat-gain.
